Race Housing Available At ETCH
The week of the Races at Bristol ETCH will have gym dormitory rooms & 3
RV hook ups open on campus…spring or fall race weeks, so
contact housing co-ordinator Mrs. Bambi Durham if you know of
someone who would be interested in staying on a Christian campus for a
‘suggested donation’ of $200 for ETCH…call Bambi on her cell phone at
434-548-6589.
Welcome Miss Elizabeth
We’ll call her Miss Elizabeth, but our new intern is
married with a married daughter…she is getting her Family Counseling
degree from ETSU, and she is here doing her required 80 hour internship
this semester. She is the president and founder of a faith-based
organization advocating for children with serious illnesses and special
needs, plus she has her pastors’ license…what a blessing she is to
our girls! Guess who sent her our way as we were praying?
ETCHINGS
A Ministry of the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ
From East Tennessee Christian
Home and Academy
IN REMEMBRANCE
We would like to ask you to give “a
special offering” to ETCH on Memorial Day Sunday, May 27. Why
ask…for several reasons! First, our cash flow is a little tight and it
would be a big boost to our budget. And it would help us to facilitate
girls to graduate from our ETCH Academy like SARAH FOSTER did who is now
serving in Special Forces of our Army Reserves out of Ft. Bragg, N.C….she’s
in Echo Company, 1st BN, 34th INF Regiment, 4th
Platoon “Wolfpack”. As you may remember, Sarah scored a 27 on her A.C.T.,
tried out for American Idol in Chattanooga and plans to enroll in
E.T.S.U. this fall. We are proud of all of our adolescent girls at-risk
who complete their time with us at ETCH leaving as different people in a
positive way than when they first arrived on campus, and Sarah
represents all of our children through the years as a picture of what a
Christian staff can do in their lives. PV2 Sarah Foster, We Salute You!
“HU-RAH!”
IN SARAH’S HONOR and in honor
of all of our military personnel we also want to dedicate this May issue
of ETCHINGS! And IN MEMORY OF all of our military personnel who have
given their lives in defense of our country, we want to give you this
opportunity to honor them in a monetary way supporting God’s cause at
ETCH for Memorial Day Sunday, May 27.
Did you know that ETCH was
considered by some as a war memorial in memory of Flight Officer LLOYD
HODGES MORRELL who died in WW II. He enlisted in WW II holding on to the
dream that he would return to Elizabethton and make a home with his
fiancée on a hill not far from his parents’ home. However Morrell never
did return from the war, so his parents donated the land of five acres
that was to be their son’s home for the present site of the East
Tennessee Christian Home for children due to the vision of Preacher Fred
Smith. Lloyd H. Morrell and Fred Smith, we salute you!
So, what are we asking?
We’re asking you as an individual Christian and church family to take up
“a special offering” for ETCH and Academy this Memorial Day
Sunday, May 27. This will be done in honor of ETCH Academy’s first
graduate Sarah Foster, in special forces of the Army Reserves AND in
memory of Lloyd H. Morrell who gave his life unaware for hundreds of
children at ETCH. It will be a “gift given to remember” all our
Christian brothers and sisters who are now serving in our military
forces! And thank you for your gift! “Churches of Christ, We Salute
You!” (Romans 16:16)
And yes, your special
offering for this purpose will be accepted AFTER Memorial Day weekend
through July 4, 2007 when this opportunity will end. God Bless America
and ETCH!
“The memory of the righteous will
be a blessing.” (Proverbs 10:7)
